Honoring the Multitudes

there are a million billion universes inside of us each thought leading to the next thought leading to the heart opening in a million billion different cells of blood and love breath integrating oxygen keeping our body moving and pumping and resting and kneeling in honor of the tree and the babbling stream of life that sustains and water that flows and sun that warms the face as we look up in wonder that it is raining and cold and warm at the same time how does this weather work this way that we walk in awe of the budding flower and the fern the fullness of the world inside of us waiting for us to notice the dew drop on the leaf hanging on for dear life lest it fall to nourish the dirt and the roots beneath its plants wondering for all its might how it might be worthy of the mystery of life while the trees moan in the forest tired from wind picking up creaking its tree bones reminding us of the wonder of the planet while we are just walking a path trying to get through the wandering of our souls mission and purpose taking us somewhere feeling like we are going nowhere how will we remember slow and steady wins the race while swallowtail butterflies fly all around seeking nectar seeing rest seeking to alight on the smallest of branches that cannot be seen from so far away as the unfurling of the day and the wandering wind reminds us to honor the multitudes of all that lies inside our inner world while the mystery of life reminds us that we are woven of the outer world and that the millions and billions of stars and galaxies are reflected in our skin cells and our toe nails and the little hairs that stand on end when we are giddy or afraid or cold or turned on this life this life this life contains multitudes
